Operators and service technicians often work in demanding conditions, such as underground mines, where connectivity is limited, and quick decision-making is crucial. SAM needed to provide real-time data and guidance in a way that was intuitive and accessible, even in low-light and offline scenarios.

Working within an agile framework, I collaborated closely with developers and stakeholders throughout the whole design process - from research to detailed design. Mobile Adaptations
Designed mobile version of the iOS and Android apps for increased accessability, including dark mode for low-light environments. -
Design System
Built a comprehensive design system to maintain consistency across styles and interaction patterns, streamlining workflows for designers and developers. When the company underwent a major rebrand shortly after, the system was successfully updated to align with the new brand identity. -
Fleet Filter & Offline Support
Implemented robust offline support combined with a fleet filter to manage large datasets efficiently, ensuring the app remained responsive even without an internet connection. -
Customizable Landing Page
Designed a landing page that highlights key data, provides quick access to shortcuts, displays an event calendar, and offers site-specific information to support users in their daily tasks. -
Roles & onboarding
Redesigned the roles and onboarding flow, streamlining complex processes and ensuring a seamless, user-friendly first experience. -
Notifications & Notes Tool
Developed a notification system to keep users informed and a notes tool to allow users to attach comments to specific equipment, facilitating localized communication.
Outcome & Impact
The enhancements made to SAM's mobile experience significantly improved accessibility and usability for operators and service technicians. In addition, the refreshed look and feel, supported by the updated design system and rebrand, gave the app a more premium and cohesive appearance, enhancing user confidence and satisfaction.
