My Securitas

Assisting security teams, analysts and control centers to coordinate responses, handle threats, and minimize security risks effectively.

Background

In early 2021, Securitas managed three separate digital B2B products—Guarding, Risk Prediction, and Remote Services. While these products shared a client base, they were developed in silos, leading to inefficiencies and inconsistent experiences. To address this, cross-team design meetings were introduced to improve collaboration and alignment. At the same time, Securitas launched a new brand design, prompting the creation of a unified design system to ensure consistency across all products.

My role

I led the design work for Guarding, focusing on key features such as:

In my final year, I also took ownership of the design system, defining its dark-mode colour scheme to align with accessibility and branding guidelines.

Ways of working

At Securitas all development is agile, working in 3 PI:s per year, divided in to 2 week sprints. The PI sets the overarching goals for that period, but each sprint we look at were we are and adjust accordingly. This also means that my time at Securitas didn't have a specific end goal. My role was to lead the design for primarily Guarding, but would later also include Issue Reporting and the Design system.

Research

MySecuritas had two full-time UX researchers who worked across all products and collaborated closely with designers on larger tasks. Additionally, Securitas maintains a test panel of volunteer users, which we regularly engage for surveys, interviews, and usability testing. These tests and interviews are typically conducted as a team effort, involving at least one researcher and one designer to ensure well-rounded insights and collaborative problem-solving.

End state

When leaving the project in August 2022, MySecuritas had fully transitioned into one application with shared settings page and notifications handling. Guarding was the first product to fully complete the re-branding, with a planned release in September 2022.
